Me: “Karl, how did you learn all these things?”
Karl: “You learn them by making every mistake possible.”

Learn by Doing

We are seamlessly connected with each other. We rely on others for most everything. The cars we drive, the food we eat, those who build the houses in which we dwell. In this world, we are born depending on someone to provide us with the essentials of life. The way you make your living is usually to provide others with some product or service. We humans are interdependent. We need each other. The rest of our world is the same. Plants need water, water needs land, animals need both, and we need the whole of nature to insure a stable environment. Everything works together like a grand symphony orchestra.

Our world is not the product of some chaotic explosion called “the Big Bang.” It was created by the guidance of a higher intelligence. There is order in all things, and a purpose for their being. We are not able understand the “whys” of everything because they occur beyond our knowledge. I believe this greater intelligence has put together a magnificent classroom for us to observe, and learn from the guiding principles of this great adventure.

Scientists have discovered many of the rules and regulations governing our world. We call them physical laws: Universal Gravitation; Laws of Motion; Conservation of Mass and Energy; Thermodynamics; and Electrostatic Laws to name a few. These principles are universal. Think what would happen if “Universal Gravitation” would suddenly stop functioning. Our planet would cease to exist; but I know of no one worrying this will happen. We take these things for granted. They are dependable gifts from a mysterious intelligent source.

As there are physical laws, there are also “rules” of personal interaction. However, since we have free choice; breaking or bending the rules does happen. But not without consequences. Corruption, scamming, and conflict are universal on planet earth. Kindness, compassion, and empathy are also universal on planet earth. The choice is for each of us, and the consequences of those choices transform us. They can make our life a living hell, or a thing of great beauty.

The formula is simple. Harm others and you harm yourself. Help others and you help yourself. This law is as sure as the law of gravity. No one can escape the inevitable consequences of their own actions.

Torch Bearers of Light…

We are each holding the divine Light within as LOVE, this we have eternally always been and will never differ.

But as souls journeying in this physical earth plane
our remembrance of our true selves are often well veiled at birth.

To fully embrace our physical density, unforgiving and tight fitting it often might be

Yet this then becomes our reality for all the moments of living,

so that we may experience all that we can imagine, dream or encounter.

For the purpose of learning, growing, reaping all the benefits of joys, pain or sorrow,

while achieving our goals and purpose agreed upon before coming.

But as a grace when we may be lonely and miss our true home, there are sparks of recall, nudgings of small voices within, gentle touches from other souls crossing our paths…

That we let us realize we are so much more than we seem and our remembrance is rekindled,

little by little or sometimes in huge waves of blissful ignites..
nevertheless, we know and it becomes a second birthing.

With tears of joy, gladness and warmth and not of cold shock as in the first arrival.

We notice then there are many siblings all around, some awaking some still in a haze.

And we love them so much because we remember our Oneness, our dearest eternal friends.

Seeing in them ourselves, their light, our own light, their loving essence, ours.

So we pass on this burning desire to share, this remembrance of LOVE so perfect and rare.

A beautiful jewel aglow within each, to be discovered and behold

A light so bright, so pure, so inviting beautiful,

we boldly can’t help but reach out to touch, embrace and merge with our own,

thus allowing full participation to all, with all, in unity we are much more afire

Burning, expanding, flamingly alight for the divine conscious awareness for all siblings.

As we strive in oneness for ultimate ascension to our highest potential, racing towards heavens ordained blessing of true Being.

As olympians bearers of this divine light, we each bring a unique energy of love vibration that must be shared and passed on.

For in the perfect wonderful law of our Creator, the more you give, the more you get back.

In so many ways we do this, in kindness, in prayers, in thoughtful deeds, in friendship, in encouraging ways, in being LOVE and letting others Be.

And accepting All exactly where they are in their path and walking gently, ever present,

Along, beside with respect for the unique expression of their souls in what we see with our opened hearts and open arms…

Let us all rekindle our fire as we keep on…being the lights that we are, and letting our Love reveal itself in all the ways that it needs to be…with each other, within our personal lives…with the world at large.

This truly is the passing on of the torch that is not only our privilege to do but a joy and responsibility to each other and what we came to do…

So the more we pass our light on to others, the more we shine

The brightness is immense for all to clearly see with their hearts

their paths becomes joyous with peace and not lonely in oneness knowing,

Each realizing their own beautiful magnificent soul self, always cherished, ever eternal.

Rekindling their light and then too, passing it on, in endless ripples of LOVE till all hearts are aflame with remembrance of loving Oneness Light.

Thank you for reading, blessings & hugs, gisl

Ancient Education

It’s been sixty years since I was in grade school. K-9, is how it was divided. Kindergarten through the sixth was considered elementary school, and seventh through the ninth was junior high school. Our school was build in a square, with the playground in the center. It covered a whole city block, and taught about 900 kids while I was there. On the corners and in the middle were gates to enter and leave the school. This was during WWII, so there were guards on the gates making sure only children and teachers were entering the school. If parents wanted to come into the school they had to go to the main gate and be identified before they could enter.

Our classes were large by today’s standards, 40-45 in each class. We also had auditorium classes for large groups on subjects of health interests. Don’t smoke, don’t drink, type of schooling. Occasionally we had auditoruim classes just for fun, I can remember Professor Backwards who could write a word backwords as quickly as he could forward. Then after school we could attend serials if we wanted. Flash Gorden, Perils of Pauline, and Zorro.

We did play football and baseball between the classes, but there were no after school practice sessions. We just played for fun. I can remember hardly any homework, we couldn’t take the books out of the class. Sometimes we were asked to write a page on some subject. We could go home and play with our friends until supper. No television, so we read magazines, newspapers, or books, we even talked about family things and played games like monopoly.

We had a wide choice of classes beyond English, Math, Literature, History, Geography, and Physical Education, these were mandatory. Boys could take Electricity, Woodworking, or Metalworking, while the girls could take Cooking, Sewing, or Home Economics. Classes for everyone were Band, Music, Art, Typing, Social Studies, and Science.

We had time to use the playground during lunch and recess. There were several organizations that were promoted by the school, YMCA, YWCA, if you joined the “Y” you could go swimming at their facilities downtown. Don’t know much about the YWCA. Boy and Girl Scouts were discussed also. The Boy Scouts were learning to shoot rifles, 22’s, The troop I belong to went to the finals in target shooting, but didn’t win. The war, remember.

The school also had a guard organization you could join after the eighth grade. They would watch the bathrooms and halls, also guard the gates. I joined early and finally made Captain of the Guard, which gave me the priviledge of starting the flag salute each morning by blowing a whistle. Each morning we started school with a prayer, and a salute to the flag of the United States of America.

We prayed in class sometimes and always in the auditorium. Those were times of uncertainty, fear of atomic bombs, and fear of losing friends and family in the War, which many did.

Schools helped in the war effort. We collected newspapers, metal of all kinds, we put them into bins at the school. Every evening I would spend time gathering newspaper from the neighbors to put into the bins at school. All too often, I would collect money for flowers to help those who lost family in the war. Gold stars adorned a lot of windows. We all dreaded seeing the Military car in the neighborhood bringing bad news to someone.

While I am not a religious person, I have no regrets of praying in school. It was a great comfort to all. I believe my generation did their job and turned out well.

In my talking to young people today I don’t see the range of understanding that my generation shared. They know a great deal about science, but not much else. It may be my age talking, but then, maybe not.
