Sigmund Freud wrote many books. I found “Totem and Taboo” in a used book store and quickly purchased it. It was the last of his books that I hadn’t read. When I got home, I found an old, yellowed newspaper clipping in the back. The clipping was an interview of Dr. Freud by one of the staff reporters.
Now, Freud was very popular, and the “in” crowd of socialites would often quote and discuss his work at their parties. They were called Freudians. Sometimes these discussions would make the local newspapers, or radio, because of the controversial nature of Freud’s theories.
The newspaper reporter, in the clipping, asked Dr. Freud what he thought of the “Freudians” who quoted his works in the media.
Freud replied: “Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar; me, I am not a Freudian, and I would rather be quoted by my critics, than by my friends, because they quote me more accurately; however, these ideas and concepts of mine are merely the tools of my trade, it is really love that heals.”
I returned the book, unread, to the used book store. I had learned the truth of Sigmund Freud’s life work. There was no need to probe further.

Love has granted me wings,
to soar above disputes
that life always brings
from intolerant pursuits.
Wisdom has shown the way
that leads to love forever.
Lighting the darkest day
for my soul’s endeavors.
I argue not with others
for favor on this earth,
because it’s love that
brings us spiritual rebirth.

The Greater Reality is a force of conscious energy, whose nature it is to explore, and learn about itself through creation. Thought is the tool of creation. Thought alters the frequency, amplitude, velocity, and density of energy to produce an unending variety of forms. Love is the bond that holds forms together. Everything exists eternally within the Greater Reality, including our individual selves. The Greater Reality is inclusive, unconditional love, caring for its creations personally, and is sometimes called the Creator or God.
Now, the universe was created by lowering frequencies, and increasing densities to produce what we know as physical reality. If it could be seen, it would look like a projection of light from the surrounding spiritual energies into the physical energies. Starting at the higher frequencies, slowly stepping down into the lower. Sometimes these steps are called “planes” or levels. Each ascending plane has its own activity, and is a rung up the ladder to spiritual maturation.
Our physical planet, Earth, is an accelerated learning school, to teach the difference between love, and not love. The purpose is to learn about ourselves through interaction with others. In the spiritual world there are no “others,” we all exist individually in the Oneness. The journey through the physical may take many lifetimes. The more physical lives, the more learning, until the time arrives when we have mastered the course, and leave the physical planes behind.
From the viewpoint of the physical: life is real, challenging, difficult, and even dangerous. From the viewpoint of the Greater Reality: our physical lives are perceptive illusions, for the purpose of growth.

Many times I have been approached by a person asking: “Are you saved?” I was raised in evangelical religion so I knew what they were asking. My common answer is yes. I try not to get involved in religious discourse.
But one day a young girl asked me that question. Then she told me she wasn’t worthy of God’s love until she accepted Jesus as her Savior. He had died for her sins. Accepting that belief made her worthy of God’s love.
I remembered my early struggles between religion and logic. I could not reconcile the differences and left the church. On one hand I was told God is love and on the other that He would sacrifice His own son to Himself for the sins of the world. Just didn’t make any sense.
I know well the story of Jesus’ crucifixion, I do not see the hand of God in it. It was the priests that wanted Jesus eliminated. Jesus was preaching love for all, forgiveness for all. Jesus was not preaching rules, rites, and protocol of a religion. He was preaching unconditional love for all. It was something new and the priests felt appalled that this teaching would excel their message and wanted Jesus exterminated. They were willing to tell any lie, go to any length to kill Jesus, and they succeeded.
I explained my thoughts of God to the young girl, telling her worthiness is freely given by God. Everyone is worthy of God’s unconditional love. It is the very essence of God to be forgiving, and loving. Jesus’ teachings tell us the nature of God. Jesus speaks for God, not man. The young girl relaxed her frown of determination to save me. Believing the teachings of Jesus, I was never lost.
