In His Image

Creator to created we came into being.
Image to image, yet each unique.
Individual to individual we are the children
carrying within His precious gift of love
being free to plan and pilot our own course.

It will not be an easy course on smooth waters.
There will be high seas and rough weather,
but there is the promise of final success.
A guarantee we will make it through
for we are eternal as our Creator is eternal.

We will learn to gain faith by believing.
To gain love by giving love in all situations.
To receive compassion by being compassionate.
We will learn to not judge nor condemn others,
but to celebrate the differences of those unlike us.

Though we may possess knowledge and wisdom,
we will remain humble to all we meet,
understanding they are a part of our Creator as we
greet them with patience and peace in our heart
willing to forgive all with loving kindness.

When the lessons are over we will be anew.
By giving our life in the service of others we
become closer to our Creator who gives us everything.
His heart to ours as we grow to become like Him,
being a child of whom He is well pleased.

Causes of Inner Peace

These are some causes of my inner peace that I have had throughout my life so far. Some have produced temporary effects while others are more permanent if I let it be.

Having good balance in your internal and external world

Accepting the good and bad (Duality)  that comes along in life/non-judgment

Reaching a certain level of understanding/growth of yourself and life experiences

Letting go of the past

Forgiveness of yourself and others

Knowing that everything will work out for your benefit

Completing or reaching your goals/end of various life stages

Seeing the bigger or broader picture

Accepting your mortality

Restorative Justice Program

Could you forgive a person who murdered your spouse? There is a program being used in some prisons called a Restorative Justice Program that attempts to bring murderer, and family of the murdered together in forgiveness. The family forgives the murderer and the murderer acknowledges the wrongness of their action. It is a most holy place where forgiveness is given and wrong doings are acknowledged. Great love is shown and experienced with both participants gaining from the experience. An earlier post lists some details.

Are You Saved?

Many times I have been approached by a person asking: “Are you saved?” I was raised in evangelical religion so I knew what they were asking. My common answer is yes. I try not to get involved in religious discourse.

But one day a young girl asked me that question. Then she told me she wasn’t worthy of God’s love until she accepted Jesus as her Savior. He had died for her sins. Accepting that belief made her worthy of God’s love.

I remembered my early struggles between religion and logic. I could not reconcile the differences and left the church. On one hand I was told God is love and on the other that He would sacrifice His own son to Himself for the sins of the world. Just didn’t make any sense.

I know well the story of Jesus’ crucifixion, I do not see the hand of God in it. It was the priests that wanted Jesus eliminated. Jesus was preaching love for all, forgiveness for all. Jesus was not preaching rules, rites, and protocol of a religion. He was preaching unconditional love for all. It was something new and the priests felt appalled that this teaching would excel their message and wanted Jesus exterminated. They were willing to tell any lie, go to any length to kill Jesus, and they succeeded.

I explained my thoughts of God to the young girl, telling her worthiness is freely given by God. Everyone is worthy of God’s unconditional love. It is the very essence of God to be forgiving, and loving. Jesus’ teachings tell us the nature of God. Jesus speaks for God, not man. The young girl relaxed her frown of determination to save me. Believing the teachings of Jesus, I was never lost.
