This blog is more than an account of Near Death Experiences. It ponders in detail the tough questions of life. Who are you, and why are you here in this physical world? What happens when you die, and is there a judgment? However, most anything could appear here. This is not a news blog, archived posts are just as relevant as new posts. Check the boxes at the top of the page for the Contents, Contact, Forum and other links.
This blog contains over 600 posts. Most of the serious posts are on Near Death Experiences. In total, they prove beyond doubt that NDEs are real spiritual experiences, and that we live after the death of our bodies. The experiences have been researched by many doctors and scientists that come to the same conclusion.
This NDE knowledge is both liberating and uplifting. It is a huge benefit to those who have had the experience or done research on them. They impart knowledge beyond the physical and bring hope to those who have lost it. Our society needs this knowledge now more than ever to ameliorate the rising tide of suicides in our country. You can find over 300 NDEs on my “Thoughtful Living” website. This blog is part of, and attached to my website.
Years ago I read an article about a suicide counselor that assigned the reading of Near Death Experiences to his patients. Among those patients who actually read the experiences, 40% of them never attempted suicide again. Then I heard, nor read, nothing more about this subject again. I would hope someone would try to duplicate this research.
Some of the serious posts are self-help articles. An attempt to improve the self-confidence and the self-love of those who read them. There are also posts for entertainment and knowledge. Then quotes, lots of quotes.
I have a Category Page that lists all the posts on this blog. Please look it over to see if the title of some post would interest you.
Who has not asked:
“What am I doing here?”
In a moment of quiet despair
who has not wondered “why me?”
No one knows how life began. Many theories abound, but facts are scarce. Religion, science, even aliens are used to explain creation. However, if theories were facts they would not be theories. We can only look at the wonders of this world speculating how they came into being. We can only guess how the Universe was born, and by what power it was thrust into reality.
It is simplistic to believe creation was chance and mankind only a fluke of fate. It is more logical to assume a “Higher Intelligence” put this world together. Religion attempts to describe this “Higher Intelligence” with many contradictory behaviors. One cannot rationally believe these man-made explanations.
From the beginning of recorded history man has believed in life after death. Paintings on cave walls reveal cavemen believed. Where did this idea/belief come from, how did mankind start to believe in life after death? It is possible they experienced themselves outside their body. Today, due to traumatic events folks have found themselves out of body and still very much alive. These experiences are called “Near Death Experiences.” It is estimated eight million people living in the U.S. have experienced this out-of-body phenomenon.
What is within the human body that still exists after death? Is it conscious energy given by a Higher Intelligence? Is this conscious energy the real you — your personality, thoughts, beliefs and memory? We humans do not create this energy, nor can we destroy it. It is eternal. For simplicity we will call this energy “consciousness.” A married couple can’t create consciousness. They only create the mortal coil, or body in which it exists here on planet earth. If the body becomes unable to sustain consciousness, it returns to the non-physical.
We come into the physical to grow into emotional maturity. We have to work at it every day. Watching our words and actions to insure we harm no one. The methods have been taught by Master Teachers. Jesus, Confucius, Krishna, and Buddha to name a few. The methods are: love your enemies, forgive those who use and/or exploit you, return good for evil, and help those in need. Your wealth or position in the physical matters not one whit. If you’re like most, you’ll not feel the value until after you try. It is infinitely worthwhile.
I was electrocuted by 119 volts and dead for forty-five minutes. My near-death experience changed my life. I quit playing professional clarinet and started lecturing at local colleges on near-death and out-of-body experiences as well as related paranormal phenomena. I never believed in such things before I died. I was raised Catholic and I am sure I would not have believed such a story before I died myself.
The doctors said they were amazed that I ever woke up. I asked the emergency doctor how he thought I came back. He said, “I don’t know, maybe it was your dog?”
I knew what he meant because during my near-death experience I was floating at the ceiling in my den when I noticed below me was my dog, Tuffy, was trying frantically to awaken me. He scratched my arm and lightly bit the side of my face repeatedly to awaken me. Later, when I was out of the hospital my dog never let me lay on the floor again. He would stand firmly and bark continuously until I would get up. (I guess he thought that the floor caused my near-death experience).
When I first came out of my body I noticed that I was transparent and wondered how I could see so good without my glasses, because I saw them on the floor next to my lifeless body.
I was thrown by such force that my physical body was thrown about 10 feet away from where I was standing and my head went right through the wall about 1-1/2 feet off the ground. I felt no physical pain. I watched it all happen out-of-my body. I had what researchers call a “core” near-death experience. That is an experience where all the phenomena associated with near-death occur.
I wanted to save me at first and became more dispassionate about saving me as my near-death experience continued. I first tried to call for help, but could not as my hand went right through the telephone. I tried to open a door and went right through the plate glass window. I was truly amazed by it all and even tried to get a man’s attention walking down my street to save my physical body. I put my hand through his upper left shoulder blade when I tried to shake him. This amazed me.
I moved through many dimensions and at one point I knew I was dead. I met an angel-like woman on the other side who explained much to me, who helped me with my life review. I went through many tunnels, not just one.
I will never forget the love that surrounded me at that moment, or the joy that ran through me. Can you imagine being hugged by God and your angel? It’s an experience that defies description!
In this rapturous place, I recognized that there were two aspects of “me.” My soul was my consciousness, everything that had made me who I had been and what I had become. My spirit, on the other hand, was the part of me that was now transparent and glowing, dressed in white.
I felt torn between two desires: wanting to go into the light and wanting to touch something tangible and retain my connection with all that was physical. Both desires grew stronger. The light became more intense, more radiant, more loving. As I lifted the lace and extended my hand toward the brilliance, wanting to touch the light, it rushed under the lace and touched the outstretched finger on my right hand.
Within the light, I knew that everyone and everything is connected to it. God is in everyone, always and forever. Within the light was the cure for all diseases.
I’ve found that people who hear about my journey to the Other Side are both fascinated and cautiously optimistic that a similar experience awaits them.
All I can say is, once you have seen the light, and then return, life will never be the same again.
