Welcome

This blog is more than an account of Near Death Experiences. It ponders in detail the tough questions of life. Who are you, and why are you here in this physical world? What happens when you die, and is there a judgment? However, most anything could appear here. This is not a news blog, archived posts are just as relevant as new posts. Check the boxes at the top of the page for the Contents, Contact, Forum and other links.

Think of Integrity

Integrity.

The quality or state of being complete or undivided.

Integrity is more than obeying the law of the land. It is holding to the spirit of that law. Doing what is right, fair and compassionate in all things. Aboard a ship, water-tight integrity is paramount. The ship is constantly being monitored for seepage of water into the bilges. If enough water seeped into the ship, it would, of course, sink. The same with people, monitor your integrity, don’t allow dishonesty to seep into your daily life, and cause your reputation to sink into ruin. Dishonesty has many faces: hypocrisy, lying, cheating, omission of truth, and failing to do the best you can. Study yourself today, the way you live, and check for any dishonesty you may be allowing to accumulate. To be known as a “person of integrity” is the highest compliment one can receive.

“Nothing is at last sacred but the integrity of your own mind.”

Ralph Waldo Emerson
American lecturer, poet, and essayist, 1803-1882

Think of Peace

Peace.

Freedom from disquieting or oppressive thoughts or emotions.

No one can grant you peace, you must allow yourself to receive it. If your mind is in a state of turmoil, wracked with confusion, and angry thoughts, how can peace find a home? Peace is something you allow yourself to own. The fastest path to peace is to let go of negative thoughts and emotions. Forgive yourself, let go of the blame, and guilt sequence; forgive others, let go of the anger, and hate sequence. Practice exchanging negative thoughts for positive ones. Stay away from things that upset you as much as possible, if not possible try to keep a picture of peace and love in your mind. Read good books on attaining peace. Do something today to bring more peace into your life.

“Nothing can bring you peace but yourself.”

American lecturer, poet, and essayist, 1803-1882

Think of Support

Support.

To hold up or serve as a foundation.

Without our Creator’s love and support we would not exist. As we grow spiritually we learn supporting others in their efforts is the same as supporting ourselves. So use every opportunity that presents itself to encourage, and help others on their path through life. Learn about the support groups available in your community, when and where they meet, what they are about, so you can give this information to others or take advantage of it yourself. We all need the love and support of others, there is no reason we shouldn’t ask for it. Most of these groups are cost free and ask nothing from the participants. Another very important thing about most of these groups is they really work, especially the twelve step groups. If you or a friend could be helped by joining a support group do so today.

“It requires greater virtues to support good rather than bad fortune.”

François de la Rochefoucauld
French classical author, leading exponent of the Maxime, 1613-1680

Think of Serenity

Serenity.

The quality or state of being serene.

Serenity is the wisdom of knowing who you are, and understanding your place in the greater reality. Only by “seeing” the greater truths can you remain calm while everyone around you is losing their mind and blaming it on you. A spiritual friend explained to me that the ability to remain calm and serene in the middle of a battlefield is the mark of a truly spiritual person. Four U.S. Army chaplains–two Protestant, one Catholic, and one Jewish–were aboard the Army transport ship U.S.S. Dorchester when it was torpedoed and sunk in the North Atlantic, off the coast of Greenland, on February 3, 1943. The four gave away their own life-jackets so others might live. They stood on the deck while the ship sank. Serenity is a gift from God to His children. If you don’t own it, seek it today.

“Serenity is not freedom from the storm, but peace amid the storm.”
