A kindness

A kindness is an act of love. Strangers helping strangers because there is a need. It happens all over the world millions of times a day. Kindness from opening the door for strangers too feeding and sheltering them. There are many good people in this world, never believe the whole world is like the news or movies.

We don’t have snow very often where I live, but last winter we had eight inches of snow fall overnight on a workday. When it snows I become the driver to work for the family. It wasn’t too bad, just stay in the ruts and avoid the deep stuff.

After dropping off the last one, I turned for home. It was still dark and hard to see. At the first corner I turned too sharp and found myself stuck in the deep snow. Great! Here I am seven miles from home, tires spinning, going nowhere.

To my right was a large empty parking lot. I noticed a car seemed to be parking close to the street where I was stuck in he snow. Two men jumped out and ran to my car. They tried to push my car out of the snow, but it was too deep. Then a Van pulled up beside my car and a man got out, talked to the other men, and attached a tow strap to my car and used his Van to pull my car out of the snow bank. The men talked again then got into their vehicles and drove off. I yelled out at them: “Thank you and God Bless.” People are great. Life is good.

Snow

I reach my hands up to the sky,

The coolness of the wind invigorates my senses,

I let out a long and contented sigh.

The snow swirls and dances all around me like a grand orchestra,

I am caught up in a whirlwind of child-like delight and ecstasy,

As I watch nature unfold and let loose its full majesty.

The snowflakes find their way to rest all over me,

Giving me tiny little white flowers in my hair,

Making me feel like a beautiful winter snow queen.

The snow decorates the ground like sparkling fairy dust on the floor,

Making a soft blanket for the earth below,

Creating a beautiful white wonderland at the amazement of my soul.

Blizzard, Christmas 09

Blizzard of Christmas 09

Eleven inches of snow in Oklahoma City, unheard of in these parts of the country. The wind blown snow reached almost two feet in parts of my yard, and covered my porches front and back. Here I sit for four days now waiting for a melt. But the temperature barely reaches 33 degrees in the daytime. So it looks like I will have to try to dig out on Sunday, people need to go to work on Monday. I love to look at the snow but don’t like trying to drive in it. There were over 200 ambulance calls due to people falling in the snow yesterday. A main reason I am reluctant to go out. But it won’t last forever, nothing does. So I will attempt to dig out a little, if it is not working well, I will wait for a melt.
