Freedom

  • To laugh is to risk playing the fool.
  • To weep is to risk appearing sentimental.
  • To reach out to another is to risk involvement.
  • To expose your feelings is to risk exposing your true self.
  • To place your dreams and ideals before the crowd is to risk embarrassment.
  • To love is to risk not being loved in return.
  • To live is to risk dying.
  • To hope is to risk despair.
  • To try is to risk failure.

But risks must be taken, because the greatest hazard in life is to risk nothing at all. The person who risks nothing may avoid sorrow, but he cannot learn, feel, change, grow, love or live. Chained by their fear and certitudes, they are slaves. They have forfeited their freedom.Only the person who risks is free. — Author Unknown

Pandemic!!!

I don’t know what can be said about the Coronavirus Pandemic that has not already been said a hundred times. The subject has been on the minds of most everyone. The information coming from multiple sources is confusing and contradictory. I don’t know what to believe. An atmosphere of intense fear has been created. But fear is not needed in moments of national stress. What we need is resolve. Calm, careful, realistic, and practical advice gets our country through the crisis. Not fear. Take a deep breath, we will get through this as we did other panics. I keep fear at bay by saying an affirmation as needed.

“I am safe and secure, I am completely safe and secure, I am wholly safe and secure, I am forever safe and secure.”

Mister Preacher Man

Dear Mister Preacher man
don’t teach my children fear.
Sermons of hellish fire,
What is this farce I hear?

You say God is jealous,
So angry, to condemn
His own precious children
to burn in hell for sin.

You did not heed the One
that set the teaching true.
God’s one and only Son,
the gift He gave to you.

Why worship now His death
by ignorant, maddened throng,
discarding His sweet words
that taught us right from wrong?

He asked you to Love God
with your heart, mind and soul,
and to love one another,
now that should be your goal.

Love your enemies, doing
good to them that wrong.
Go pace that second mile,
give love as you walk along.

Give service unto others
so you be fully blessed.
Help the poor, the homeless,
walk the path He professed.

Forgive those that harm you,
do not judge nor condemn.
Treat others as you would like
to be treated by them.

Now Mister Preacher man
what don’t you understand.
The Son said: “teach love” to
each woman, child, and man.

Please Mister Preacher man
don’t teach my children fear.
Give them the words of love,
that they may hold them dear.

You’re the One

Does it matter the troubled path
things churning and tumbling past
as you strain to find one that lasts.

Why is our life so charged with fear
repelling treasures we hold dear
falling on a sound deaf ear.

Can it not be spoke aloud
to the bumbling, stumbling crowd
these bright secrets I have vowed.

But tell I must these precious words
spoke mainly to the running herds
there’s more to life than empty words.

Slow the pace, deepen sensation
become mindful of the frustration
how quickly it shifts to elation.

Within prevails the One that glows
the eternal light through you flows
all parts of the Oneness knows.

No need to fear the darkened way
you are the light, can’t go astray
you are One in the Oneness array.
