The Stranger

At my door came a stranger
seeking shelter from the storm.
Soaked with rain, he huddled close,
truly trying to get warm.

I asked from whence he came
and where he hoped to go,
he did not answer me,
I judged he did not know.

He was rather lean of bone
I could tell he needed food.
My heart began to soften,
I just couldn’t treat him rude.

He had four tiny paws,
a coat of yellow fur.
A most handsome cat,
how he loved to purr.

My open door invited
this stranger in my home.
He spent no time accepting,
never more to roam.

Personal Spiritual Growth

Spiritual growth is the task of each individual. No one can do it for you. As you learn, consciousness expands, and life becomes more desirable. It is not for moral reasons that you grow, it is for self transformation.

Spiritual growth has little to do with insight. It has everything to do with attitude.

The three main attitudes of spiritual growth are:
1. Forgiveness.
2. Non-judgment.
3. Unconditional love.

  1. Forgiveness releases negative emotions of anger, guilt, envy, etc., and provides closure on past events where mistakes may have been made. It clears the path of emotional rubbish, freeing the mind and heart to continue the journey of life. Forgive yourself as well as others.
  2. Non-judgment keeps the negative emotions away. If you don’t condemn, it is not necessary to forgive. The world is large enough for all the things. It is not necessary to have an opinion on everything.

  3. Unconditional love overcomes fear of life, and fear of death. It replaces negative emotions. It brings understanding. You learn to love by practicing it. The page on Love, the healing force will further explain.

The dichotomy of our physical world makes it an ideal environment to grow spiritually. Each day brings its challenges, and achievements. There are no circumstances, or conditions that inhibit growth. It matters not how, rich or poor, young or old, ill or healthy, spiritual growth can be practiced. The rewards are great, why are people waiting?

Hapless Robber

“Your money or your life,”
he sayed.
As I stood at the edge
of his blade.

Tore my pockets agape,
found a buck forty-eight.

He was holding my life,
yet he folded his knife.

Under breath he swore,
and gave me one dollar more.

John Lennon

In writing the song “Imagine” John remembered the light of unconditional love. We are created in this love, every one, and connected by its magnificent beauty. There is nothing to divide or separate us in the spirit world. No heaven, no hell, no countries, no religions, and no need for possessions. Our spirit world is as one. But in the dichotomy of the physical world many forget they are loved. Choices are made that hurt others and themselves. We lose our way and forget we are the light of love. But, the light is there within us all waiting to be remembered.

Imagine

Imagine there’s no heaven
It’s easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people living for today

Imagine there’s no countries
It isn’t hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people living life in peace

You may say I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope someday you’ll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people sharing all the world

You may say I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope someday you’ll join us
And the world will live as one
