Nugget rests upon my lap.
\nWe are both long past our prime.
\nOur writing bouts, full of fun.
\nWe’ve paid our dues, done our time.<\/p>\n

While I write this poem, he helps,
\nclawing at my pen, stabbing
\ntiny holes in the paper
\nfor which he is now grabbing.<\/p>\n

We spend the day this way
\nuntil time for napping,
\nhe in my lap, I in my chair,
\ndream puff castles in the air.<\/p>\n

There is no fear of the future
\nfor when we finish this life
\nwe both will be together
\nagain in the land of paradise.<\/p>\n
