{"id":4446,"date":"2011-01-25T08:30:33","date_gmt":"2011-01-25T14:30:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.aleroy.com\/blog\/?p=4446"},"modified":"2019-08-08T15:40:43","modified_gmt":"2019-08-08T20:40:43","slug":"the-ice-storm-of-07","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/aleroy.com\/blog\/archives\/4446\/the-ice-storm-of-07","title":{"rendered":"The Ice Storm of 07"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Rain descended into ice<br \/>\nAnd lay down upon the trees<br \/>\nCoating their branches crystal<br \/>\nWhite, with an appallingly freeze<\/p>\n<p>Tree limbs swayed neath the weight<br \/>\nMoaning low in icy despair<br \/>\nYet layer on layer grew the ice<br \/>\n\u2018til the burden became too great<\/p>\n<p>Stooped low over frozen ground<br \/>\nBranches at that angle strained<br \/>\nNoble stance deformed to bow<br \/>\nSoon the wood began to break<\/p>\n<p>Dreadful dissonance voices<br \/>\nfrom all sections of the town<br \/>\nPops, cracks, and loud crashes<br \/>\nas the icy wood broke and fell<\/p>\n<p>Wood landed on the rooftops<br \/>\nAnd on the power lines too<br \/>\nPunching holes and snapping<br \/>\nLines spreading darkness through<\/p>\n<p>Cars smashed, tall fences cleaved<br \/>\nStreets filled with fallen wood<br \/>\nRoads blocked, street lights out<br \/>\nNear panic quickly ensued<\/p>\n<p>Sirens sounded, emergency<br \/>\nVehicles thwarted by the wood<br \/>\nTree crews clearing out a path<br \/>\nBefore they could drive through<\/p>\n<p>During the night mayhem ruled<br \/>\nFinally ceasing in the morn<br \/>\nA vast city lay mangled<br \/>\nSlowly crushed by icy storm<\/p>\n<p style='text-align:left'>&copy; 2011 &#8211; 2019, <a href='https:\/\/aleroy.com\/blog'>Lekatt<\/a>.
