These &#8220;causes&#8221; were taken directly from skeptical articles and writings. In truth, skeptics know very little about near death experiences, I have never met one that did. The one important fact that they ignore is that NDEs are really caused by clinical death. We have good, solid <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aleroy.com\/blog\/archives\/3370\">research<\/a> on this, showing that consciousness continues after the death of the brain and body. Nothing physical can cause a classical near death experience. But on the list below are only physical causes because skeptics still falsely believe that the spiritual world is nonsense. That is their loss. <\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Hallucinations caused by trauma <\/p>\n<p>Ketamine, a general anaesthetic and tranquilizer<\/p>\n<p>Anecdotal nonsense<\/p>\n<p>Fizzing neurons in my oxygen-starved brain<\/p>\n<p>Anesthesia awareness, in which a person is conscious but can&#8217;t move<\/p>\n<p>Fighter pilots experiencing rapid acceleration in a centrifuge<\/p>\n<p>Psychosis, due to severe neurochemical imbalance<\/p>\n<p>Sluggish brain activity <\/p>\n<p>Sound transmission through the operating table itself <em>(love this one)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Dimethyltryptamine, (DMT) a naturally-occurring tryptamine and psychedelic drug<\/p>\n<p>Electrical stimulation of the temporal lobe<\/p>\n<p>High levels of carbon dioxide  (hypercarbia)<\/p>\n<p>REM intrusion<\/p>\n<p>Cascade of electrical activity in a dying brain <\/p>\n<p>LSD, psilocarpine, and\/or mescaline<\/p>\n<p>Altered blood levels of carbon dioxide and potassium<\/p>\n<p>Pineal gland, home to this \u201cspirit molecule.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Recollections, consisting of fragmented and random memories<\/p>\n<p>Delusions while using drugs or alcohol<\/p>\n<p>Tricks of the mind <\/p>\n<p>False memories<\/p>\n<p>Brain states that occur due to a dying<\/p>\n<p>Neural noise, the effect would be a light at the center<\/p>\n<p>Cerebral anoxia, the lack of oxygen to the brain<\/p>\n<p>Dissociation, a typical reaction to stress<\/p>\n<p>Rapid firing of neuronal mechanisms<\/p>\n<p>NDE accounts may have been contaminated<\/p>\n<p>NDEs are the work of Satan<\/p>\n<p>Telepathic communications from doctors, nurses<\/p>\n<p>Overheard while in a groggy state<\/p>\n<p>Use of Ouija board while stoned on marijuana<\/p>\n<p>Septic shock, from myocardial ischemia (Cardiogenic shock)<\/p>\n<p>Temporolimbic epilepsy <\/p>\n<p>Dreams, just dreams<\/p>\n<p>Near-Death Experiences are in the Mind<\/p>\n<p>Nothing more than neuronal events<\/p>\n<p><em>(Now which one is it, or it is all of them, or part of them, that a rational person is supposed to believe.
