Thinking of Blessings 27.

Blessings.

A thing conducive to happiness or welfare.

"Count your blessings, name them one by one." Our blessings are numerous with life being the first. Friends, family, and the freedom to enjoy them. Here in America we have plenteous freedom and liberty, the very things most people of the world wish they could enjoy. We have the right to speak our minds and choose our religion. If we don't choose any religion, that's ok too. I traveled a lot to other countries when young, and remember a young boy in a dictator run country. He asked me for a dime, I gave him the money, and remarked that I wasn't rich. He replied: "You American! You rich!" I never forgot that encounter. We are rich in so many ways, now we need to count our blessings.

"Just to be is a blessing; just to live is holy."

Abraham Heschel
Jewish theologian and philosopher, 1907-1972
