"De mens lijdt het meest,
Van het lijden dat hij vreest
Maar dat nimmer op komt dagen
Zo heeft hij meer te dragen
Dan God hem te dragen geeft
Het leed dat is drukt niet zo zwaar
als vrees voor allerlei gevaar
Doch komt het eens in huis
Dan helpt God altijd weer
En geeft hij kracht naar kruis"
(Dutch poem. approximate translation:
Man suffers most, from what he fears to suffer;
The suffering that never occurs.
This is why his burden is more heavy than the burden God gave to him.
The suffering that is,
is not as heavy as the fear for all kinds of danger
But once suffering visits your house, God always helps
And He'll give you enough power to carry your burden.)
