Here is a poem I wrote in honor of my memories with Ben.

The Journey poem
By Britney Pieta

We met each other halfway on life's journey,
We talked to make the time go faster,
Because sometimes we walked through boring and tiring landscapes-
that seemed to go on for miles.
Sometimes I would carry his backpack,
Sometimes he would help me carry my backpack,
Because the journey got burdensome.
When the sky would grow dark we held on to each other,
We sang songs and held each others' hands to chase away-
our fears, the phantoms, and shadows.
We saw many signs along the road,
Warning us of what was coming,
So we would be prepared ahead of time.
There was one sign that I missed,
The sign that said "Dead end".
He decided he wanted to take a short cut,
Even though I told him we were getting closer and closer all the time,
To eventually reach our final destination.
So when it got dark and when I wasn't looking or talking to him,
He just left my side,
And I couldn't see anything because of how dark it was,
I screamed looking for him hoping he would answer back.
I wanted to look everywhere for him,
But I knew I must stay on the current path,
Because I didn't want to get lost or hurt myself too.
I thought, "So this is it," "it’s goodbye now huh?"
With tears forming in my eyes and with great despair.
I stopped to look down the short cut path,
But I didn't see him,
So I realized I would have to face the journey without him,
But I still hoped he would be hiding in the bushes,
And jump out and scare me.
But I know he will meet me somewhere further down the road,
To welcome me home someday.

Two songs in honor of him:
Its Over-Audio Adrenaline
"Say goodnight to, all the friends who, rocked and rolled beside you. We hope you enjoyed the show. It's over. Its over. Its all over now. Lights go down don't lose your glow..."
Have Dreams Will Travel
"Its all part of the plan."
